Leave governor in place

The Viewpoint letter from Dick and Gail Gumness (Star Journal, Oct. 30) seems to be a deliberate distortion of the facts. No one, including Governor Walker, has taken away the right to vote in Wisconsin. “Recallers” like to perpetuate that myth as part of their platform, but it is baloney, and they know it. Requiring a voter to have proper identification was long overdue, and would not be necessary if voter fraud did not exist. Nothing sinister or devious about that…you show ID, you vote.

As far as another recall, the majority of people in Wisconsin have had enough of that. We have enjoyed a nice respite from the political nonsense recently, and we like that. What part of the election process are the recallers not understanding? Walker was elected by the majority in the state. If your candidate did not win, that’s how things go. To saddle us all with another costly, ridiculous recall is something we can do without.

As someone once said, “You can’t argue with success.” Walker has eliminated the deficit and created a surplus in the state. We can expect lower property taxes next time around. Public institutions are now having to live within their budgets, just like the rest of us, and the sky has not fallen, as they predicted.

Where were the cries for “recall” when Doyle was robbing from the programs that were supposed to be untouchable, and spending the state into near bankruptcy?

Give it a break…no more recalls.
